The lead designer of Imagine 2012 is the Master of Management – Co-operatives and Credit Unions (MMCCU) program at Saint Mary’s University’s Sobey School of Business, in collaboration with the International Co-operative Alliance. One of the key objectives of the MMCCU program is to provide co-ops, especially large ones, with the business analysis, skills and tools they need to be both successful and profoundly co-operative. We do not see success and co-operative as ends of a teeter totter or seesaw but rather regard skilful co-operation as a key component of co-operative business succes.
The MMCCU program is a web-based international program aimed at managers of co-operatives. The program is international in its funding, course curriculum, faculty and students. It weaves together an exploration of the management skills and issues with a profound understanding of co-operative business purpose, values and principles to create innovative co-operative business solutions.
The online and part time nature of the program allows managers to study from their work and home bases. The co-operative learning methodology nurtures the opportunity to challenge concepts and ideas against the reality of their own and colleagues experience and co-operatives.
The MMCCU program has a solid history of innovative approaches to co-operative business issues having played a pioneering role in marketing the co-operative advantage, co-operative accounting, co-operative people development and now co-operative economics.
The MMCCU program is housed in the Management Department of the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University. The Sobey School offers business degrees up to the PhD level and is internationally accredited by the AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
Saint Mary’s University was established in 1802 and offers more than 10,000 students degrees in arts, the sciences and commerce.
